My Senior Year {How’s it Going?}

Why hello friends!

I am here for my once-a-weekly post. I am just going to be talking a little bit about my senior year, my life, and just…things in general.

So first off I’m going to share my comparisons and thoughts on my high school years VS. my senior year of high school. So basically, all the other years against this one. πŸ˜‰

Freshman Year

Initial Reaction to Freshman YearMe: “Yehaw! My freshman year! I’m now practically a grownup! I’m almost done with schoooolllll…I’m sooo cooollllll.” {Senior year: “You’re an idiot, freshman! You are SO not done. Stop thinking you’re cool…you’re just not.”}

Basically I rememeber feeling so grown up as a 13-14 yr. old. I was like excited about the ‘big kid’ school. Now? I just want to be done. πŸ˜†

Sophomore Year

Initial Reaction to Sophomore YearMe: “This is harder than I thought it would be…do I seriously have two years left? Will it ever be over??? This is taking forever and there’s too much school.”

Anyways….in sophomore year I started procrastinating majorly. And I just read and read and read BOOKSSSSSEEESSSS PRECIOUSSSS {SmΓ©agol voice}–instead of doing school. I got a lot less work done and managed to get behind.

Daydream Away

Junior Year

Initial Reaction to Junior YearMe: “Just one year after this one and then I’ll be done. At least I’m not really behind anymore. πŸ˜€ . I’ll just do my school and then stay up super late reading, writing, blogging…”Β  Senior Year: “You know you really aren’t smart are you? You know as well as I do how glazed you get when you stay up so late! And then you laze around in your PJ’s because you can.”

14 Secret Habits Every Book-Lover Is Guilty Of Having

This year was probably the worst instigator of my ‘stay up to 12’ attitude. I love staying up late, because I seem to be more productive. But then I’m exhausted afterward…is it worth it? I dunno.

Senior Year

This year has been the best {and the worst} all at the same time. I am much more school-productive and have been doing so much neat stuff this year. Definitely the most exciting so far. I still pull late-nighters but I have been coping really well. πŸ˜€ Sometimes I think to myself: “Ahhh! Yay! I am almost done, and will graduate in the spring, AT LAST.” and other times when I’m less optimistic I think this picture describes me…

Basically I am crazy when I’m being pessimistic.Β

But I think my ‘senior struggle’ can really be summed up with this picture {which I’m captioning as ‘seniors need candy’}.

Hehe. Hilarious, no? πŸ˜† It took me longer than it should’ve to take this picture because I had to do it at the dining room table where everyone was close to. And my mom and little brother kept trying to photobomb so I wouldn’t take the picture until they were gone. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜₯

So, to sum up…

  • There are good days and bad days.
  • The good days are encouraging bc I realize how close to finishing I am.
  • The bad days are when I dwell on the fact that I want to do the ‘fun stuff’ and when I dwell on the fact that the subjects left—are my least favorite.
  • Although the subjects left aren’t as bad as they could be…

Β So anyone enduring high school right now. Don’t worry…you’ll be done before you know it! {well you might…} Naw, you will! Just keep on ploughing through AND IF YOU’RE ONE OF THOSE COOL GRADUATE EARLY PEOPLE YOU MIGHT JUST…graduate early. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰

So…my writing life? I am currently scrambling to finish a retelling of Snow White for the rooglewood writing competition this year. I am so cutting it close but I am almost to the end of the first draft. I don’t really think I’ll win, but if I did it would be a dream come true. ❀ If nothing else, it will be a great experience.

I should probably do a post all for this story which is called Eyes Forever Closed.Β There are some cool twists in the plot not to mention I explore issues that happened a lot in medieval times {i.e. arranged marriage.} + I took a little liberty with the romance in it +I added characters for some depth {for instance Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty is the sister of the guy who’s the prince}.

Here’s the cover…

And here’s a collage showing how I created the cover…

The story has elements of modern day, plenty of mentions of apples, and is primarily set in medieval times. One thing I wanted to do was show the relationship of the prince and my MC {Alaska Ebony πŸ™‚ } in a deeper level. In the original story he loves her at first sight and all that…and he kisses her or something like that. And then the apple gets dislodged from her throat when they hit a bump. Weird {in my humble opinion] .

So I am changing things up to satisfy myself.

I have had so many opportunities to photograph people lately. Perhaps the biggest announcement is that I’m shooting a wedding in about two weeks. I should have a bunch of cook picture to share on my photography website in like three weeks or so. And maybe I’ll share the family session I did recently on there too. And maybe I’ll even have the engagement session done before then…who knows?

And this picture is from our family pictures which I put the tripod up for πŸ˜€ .

And the fall colors are totally kicking {or were, rn they’re starting to go away}.Β

And so that’s about it!

Are you in high school? {if so, what year?}

Dying, surviving, or neither?

What’s up in your life?

  1. Ooh, I loved this post! πŸ˜€ Heh heh, the highschool pictures were so funny. XD AND YES, the candy picture was hilarious. XD XD Your novel sounds really neat! The cover is pretty too. β™₯ Oh, I LOVE your family photos – especially the second one, hee hee! You have a beautiful family. πŸ™‚

  2. I loved this!!! I’m still a freshman but I haven’t wanted to go to high school since the 8th grade πŸ˜‚
    That’s cool how you’re capturing a wedding!! Can I ask how many siblings you have?

    1. Thank you! I am blessed to have been homeschooled my whole life so I have done all my schooling years at home. I have five siblings {six if you include me πŸ˜‰ } . πŸ˜€

      1. My pleasure! Ooo… I’ve been homeschooled since 4th grade! Me too!! I have 5 as well and I’m the second oldest, what about you? 😁

      2. Oh… is that nice? I was in the middle for 6 years then got seriously bumped along by three more siblings in addition to the one already beneath me… 😐😁

      3. It’s pretty nice. It has it’s perks, but it’s also a little annoying for me sometimes πŸ˜€ .

  3. I’m a senior too (may have told you before). Yay for graduating soon! xD I’m surviving- I really don’t have anything bad. I think my worst enemy throughout school has just been procrastination and no motivation. ;P]
    Oh, the cover for Eyes Forever Closed is lovely!
    A wedding? Eep, you’re really accomplishing things with photography! Good for you! ^___^ I actually recently got a “maybe” wedding proposition. Which is like, CRAZY for me! I’m not sure I have the confidence, but at the same time it would be a wonderful accomplishment… I mean, if I didn’t blow the whole thing. xP I don’t know if I’ll be doing it or not. Just a little possibility, I guess. πŸ˜‰
    And the family pictures you did! <33

    1. I think it’s been a lot of the same for me, especially the no motivation part! Glad you like the cover! It was mostly layers. The wedding is something that’s really exciting and scary…but thankfully I have a good friend whose second-shooting. My sister is actually the maid of honor to the girl that’s getting married πŸ˜€ . For me, I’m not overly confident most of the time so I’ve just been forcing myself to do things out of my comfort zone. But if you get to do the wedding, I know you’ll do well! Just find someone to have your back for you! Thanks, Natasha! πŸ™‚

      1. That’s nice that you have a friend doing it as well! I’d love to see some of the pictures, if you share any! πŸ˜‰
        I think my older sister would help me if I did the wedding… not sure if she’d take pictures or not, maybe? But I would appreciate the help with setting people up, because I’m not very confident with that. ;P Aw, thank you! I hope so. πŸ™‚

      2. I am hoping to do a post on that after the wedding craziness is over. I actually am doing the couples engagement photos along with my second shooter on the 14th. So those will show up first.
