Give Thanks Unto the LORD

Hey guys!

I announced over at Lucillian Photography that I’m taking a break to go on vacation. Well, that’s true over here too! But I am going to get in two new posts before I leave. This post is a thanksgiving post 😀 and the other one will be reviewing my latest Bethany House book.

Thankful.

In this life there are an awful lot of things to be depressed and anxious about. I’ve noticed that my thankfulness {which should be pouring from my mouth like lava} is often squelched by my complaining spirit.

But when I think about it, really think about it…I have SO MUCH to be thankful for.

*This stuff is in no particular order.

  • Photography. This may seem really cliché…after all. Duh. But for me photography is a way to express myself. It’s become a big part of who I am. I can show moods and so many other things in images. bc033-img_3611
  • Writing. Did you know this post is causing me to procrastinate on writing? Haha. 😆 I don’t know why I do it sometimes, I put myself through so much. But I have stories that are just waiting to be written in my head all the time. and if I didn’t give them some love, they’d cause my head to explode even though they do anywaysimg_3066
  • My family. This is an obvious no-brainer. I mean, my family and I may argue but they’re my family. The gifts and sanctifying means privileges that God gave me. I love them!IMG_0027
  • My Heavenly Father. Recently my family has been going through a tough time. I may someday write up a post about some struggles that I’ve had before…but basically the punchline is this: you can try and try to satisfy yourself with the world, but it DOES. NOT. SATIFY. I know. I’ve tried it. {Well, not all the way–but sort of.}
  • My salvation. I believe that once you are saved by grace, you are always saved. No matter what trials and temptations we endure…if we believe we are saved. I am not an antinomian, however. An antinomian believes that because you are saved, you can live however you want. You have ‘fire insurance’. I don’t believe that.

“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.  For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” ~Romans 10:9-1, emphasis added.

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.” ~1 John 2:19, emphasis added.

  • My friends. Those people who stick beside me even though they know how messed up I am. Those amazing people are the ones I want beside me. They love me, they encourage me, they brighten up my life.
  • The blogging community. I have met so many amazing people. People who are passionate about their blogs, share a love for my Savior, and love interacting with each other. I have made friends with some bloggers over the last two years, who I’m proud to interact with! I am thankful for y’all!
  • Lights, electricity, LIGHT! I am so so grateful for this stuff. These things maybe don’t occur to me all the time. But when I DO think about it…my heart is filled with thanks! I love light, {I also like darkness} and lights of all kinds are such a blessing. e3f6d-img_4010
  • Creation. As me, {and as a photographer!} creation is something I think about a lot. It’s there before waiting to be captured. It’s beautiful, yet fallen. I love it still…and am grateful for it. IMG_8584
  • The fact that we get a whole day to celebrate thankfulness. I am so excited! This year we are having thanksgiving at a friend’s house. We did it once before about two years ago with them…and it was fabulous! The food, the fellowship, the fun! I cannot wait. #ilovethanksgivingsomuch190eb-img_3755
  • My grandparents. I have two sets: {like most people 😆 } my dad’s parents, and my mom’s. My dad’s parents are the ones we see more due to distance. They are likeminded to us {most of the way} in matters of faith, and they love us so much! My mom’s parents aren’t together, but we do get to see them both occasionally. My papa comes and will stay in our yard in his camper for months at a time. We will play cards together, and he’ll give us stickers and blank cards to use. He likes to talk about politics with mom {who also likes to talk politics.}. My grandma Carol isn’t here very much. It’s really nice when we get to see her {which might be once a year 😥 }. She likes to come around this time in the year normally, although this year we saw her earlier on. One thing that we love doing with her {besides having girl’s day outs} is Black Friday shopping. When she’s here is the only time mom want to go {the lines are enough to make anyone shudder!}. But we normally have a great time when she’s here!

THERE ARE SO MANY MORE THINGS TO GIVE THANKS FOR. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?

It’s kinda’ getting late over here. And I have a big couple of weeks coming up. So I’ll just wrap up this post by saying…HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

You all doing anything this thanksgiving?

Let me know what’s up in the comments!

Should I do more seasonal posts…or holiday posts?

{because I normally sort of pass them by…}
