Long Abscense = Long Update

Hello!!!!

I am here after almost three months of MIA. Did you miss me?

I missed this.

I had {and keep on having} so many things happening, in May and now into June.

Most all of them are exciting and happy things {oh wait, ALL of them are!}.

This season has been by far the best of my whole life.

I can’t remember a time that’s been this amazing for me!!!!

I feel like these words aren’t showing you how happy I am!!!!

I AM LITERALLY THRILLED. MY LIFE IS ONE HAPPY CHRONICLE AT THE MOMENT.

****

Here I am.

Back at last.

And with an update in summary form of Where I’ve Been, and What I’ve Been Up To.

There is so much to say… and I’m ready to say it at last.

****

1. I Graduated!!!!

This is the number one most exciting thing I’ve got to say.

Leading up to the graduation, I was a mess.

I had procrastinated on finishing the teeny bit left until I had three weeks left. As one person wisely noted:

“That’s cutting it a little close…?”

Yes, yes, it was.

It was awful. Stress, stress, and more stress.

100% do not recommend.

Like, unless you have a legit reason {like sickness, or something bad happens} DO NOT DO THAT.

So when it came down to it… graduation wise.. there wasn’t too much to do minus the school.

I was in charge of two things:

speech and dress.

The Dress.

I found my dress about 1.5 weeks from the graduation ceremony.

I walked in with my sister and she grabbed at least 20 dresses for me to try. I tried them all and had varying degrees of ‘like’ and ‘don’t like’.

We left without a dress.

As soon as I got in the car, I said: “I liked that one floral dress with all the ruffles.”

And my sister said: “Then why didn’t you say so?!”

I guess it’s because I didn’t know so until I left. 😀

The next day I got the dress.

Odd story coming at ya’…

We went to town on that overcast day.  I expected it would be in and out. Grab dress, buy the dress, and leave.

We got into town and saw that all the power was out in THE. WHOLE. TOWN. We got to TJ MAX, and all the lights were off there.

And the cash registers weren’t working. I dug around in the dress rack in the dark. No dress.

It wasn’t there. And neither were the lights. So I walked around and looked at the other racks — and I found it!

On a random rack out there. That’s when the light went back on… lol. So, long story short— I got the dress!!!

****

The Speech.

I will be real for a second.

I hadn’t given a speech since I was in the 5th grade, doing a 4-H speech on drinking tea, and another from 4th grade on puppies.

And with three weeks left I, I didn’t want to have to memorize anything. So I wrote up three basic points {which turned into four} summarizing what I wanted to say a week or two before the ceremony.

And I finished the rest at 12:00PM. The night before the ceremony. 😱😱😱😱

****

****

Now, for those of you wondering how awful the speech turned out… somehow {by God’s grace} it was fine. It was actually exactly what I’d wanted it to be.

And I was 0% nervous about it.

I got a little nervous when it was time to deliver the speech, but other than that — no anxiety at all!

****

****

Definitely the hand of God.

****

****

And then I sat down and watched as dad gave me the signal shortly thereafter to be presented with my diploma.

That moment was perhaps the most elating of my whole life. And I’m so glad  Sarah was there to capture it.

I think you can see the happy smugness on my face in this picture. {Oh dear that face is strange. But you CAN see my excitement. 😆 }

****

****

And then dad gave me a hug, and it was over.

****

****

Afterward there was food, pictures, talking, etc.

And it was SUCH A HAPPY TIME FOR ME.

I loved it.

****

this is the fake diploma I received at my ceremony. {which Sarah also made!} The real one arrived several days later.

****

In those moments: getting my diploma, giving my speech, even little details like my dress— I saw and felt the amazing kindness of God.

****

****

****

I’m right where I need to be, and I felt it in those moments.

2. Freedom!!!

Right after ‘getting that diploma’ I felt freedom of time I haven’t felt in forever. It was exciting, amazing, freeing {duh}, and scary.

All that time. Now how to manage it?

Good news is, I found PLENTY of things to fill the time with. {writing this long post is one of them!}

For one, all the chores I could help with. I have more time to be helpful now. Also, self-educating myself in photography! I get more time to devote myself to learning new things about this thing I love.

The list goes on and on.

****

****

This picture gives you a unique look at some ideas I wrote on consuming time. Now, you may be thinking… “Aren’t you going to get a job? That would eat up your time no problem, you know.”

Yes!!!! However, I already have a great job. Photography.

I plan on starting a business late 2018, or early 2019.

I already have clients. {I plan on posting photos from three or four photo shoots I’ve done on Lucillian Photography}.

That’s another thing that kept me busy. I had two shoots the week after graduation {which was June 2nd}.

3. Photography.

And here’s that topic. I already told you a little… but lemme’ show you my new style — which I love and plan on making my brand from.

****

****

****

Yes! I took those pictures! I have grown photographically so much over the past two years.
I love every bit of that process {although the frustrating parts drove me insane}.

4. Vacation Before Graduation.

A week or two before my graduation — our family went on vacation to Rugby, Big South Forks, and just that area in general.

I’ve always documented our vacations, but with the busyness I never found the time. So here are photos to show you how it was.

WARNING: sadly my 50mm lens broke while on vacation, so at least half the photos are lesser quality {kit lens}. But it was much better than expected, and I’m borrowing my friend’s 50mm right now.

I got back first after the hike to the Gentleman’s Swimming Hole. I hit that goal.

A rare photo of mom and dad together.

Compare this picture of my mom with the one of me below… I see why people say we look alike.

This rose was so pretty!!!!! And I took this photo on my kit lens so… #win.

Park/ Hiking.

This is the Gosling family 😉 .

“What’s good for the goose….”

Awww

Look at the layers of this rock formation.

There were so many stairs on this hike to the twin arches.

These flowers were beautiful!!!

Something was funny.

“I look into the distance and what do I see…” complete this line in the comments section and let’s see what it ends up being. 😀

Real family photo minus one.

And then the view here reminded me of Welch’s Point {where I did an engagement session}.
The rock formations were super neat, and there’s no way they’re a product of random chance.
the tree and N. became good friends. 😆

there is so much intricacy in a spider’s web.

N. showing how spider man shoots webs.

just mesmerizing flames and chill.

this is one of the best parts of cabin vacations.

The semi-creepy dolls’ house in the front yard. It looks friendly — but trust me, at night it was creepy.

trees outside our cabin.
My bunk bed.
This adorable baby bird fell out of its nest and seemed dazed so I took care of it overnight. In the morning, he was good to go — so I released him into the wild.

5. MY NEW CAMERA.

Ahhhh. Okay. I saved this for last.

Because it’s the biggest of all.

I got a new camera!!!

It’s the Canon Eos 6D. And I LOVE IT.

It does away all the things that were hard and annoying and required more work to achieve the end goal with in this model. And there are so many options!

My new camera is already taking some great photos. Here are some I took of a new baby in our congregation, who I might get to do a newborn session for in two weeks.

Here’s sweet Madeline:

                                   💗💗💗💗

                                💗💗💗💗

                                 💗💗💗💗

                                💗💗💗💗

                                 💗💗💗💗

                                💗💗💗💗

                                   💗💗💗💗

                                 💗💗💗💗

                               💗💗💗💗

                                   💗💗💗💗

                                 💗💗💗💗

                                  💗💗💗💗

                                💗💗💗💗

                                💗💗💗💗

This is my sister, btw, and my mom is the other person. Madeline is not either of theirs. They’re just holding her.

                                 💗💗💗💗

                                 💗💗💗💗

                                 💗💗💗💗

And that, folks, is it! A bunch of blessings have hit me in the face at the same time… and I am elated.

There’s such a big adventure still ahead, but instead of worrying, I will face it head on — knowing my Father in Heaven is in control.

And He can never fail me because He cannot deny Himself.

  1. I’m glad you’re back! Sounds like life is going wonderfully for you!
I recently graduated as well! I had a graduation ceremony (complete with caps and gowns) with the other graduates from my homeschool group. That was neat. 🙂 I didn’t give a speech (everyone would’ve been shocked xP) I did a slideshow of some of my photography. 😉 It’s so crazy how fast everything just ended; I’m done (besides maybe fixing up some of my last short reports…). Time to learn how to be an adult! o.o
Those pictures! Lovely! You’re going to do awesome with your business! I really need to start buckling down on my photography. I’ll probably be doing my uncle’s wedding this summer! And I have lots to learn still. 😉
That’s so cool that you got a new camera!
    Enjoyed this post!

    1. It is! I know!!! I keep meaning to comment on your post, but the Wi-Fi went down, and then my computer promptly crashed, and didn’t get fixed until last night. 😦 That’s neat that you graduated with other people. My family’s never been able to do a co-op because the one they have here is pretty expensive to join {it’s the closest thing we have to a co-op}. So my family has always gone through an umbrella school. 😀 I didn’t have a cap or a gown, although I was gonna get a cap… but then I promptly forgot. 😆 I KNOW. IT WAS ALL OVER SO FAST. BUT IT FELT LIKE IT TOOK FOREVER AND NOW IT’S ALL OVER.

Being an adult so far hasn’t been too much different for me. I guess it’ll all really sink in when I start my business! And thanks for the encouragement… it means a lot to me ❤ .

That's so exciting!! You will do great! You always do ❤ . And life is full of learning, I think I've read every article on it, and then I stumble on new photography knowledge. Thanks again, Natasha! ❤ And congratulations to you too!

      1. Yeah, that’s ok. 🙂 Computer and internet problems are no fun.
It was nice being in a co-op group for sure!
Idk how being an adult will be. I’ll probably start getting my life together after summer’s over… ;P Okay, nobody really has their life all figured out. Whatever. xP
Aw, thanks! And yes, there’s always more to learn!

  2. WOOOOOWWWW I finally read this post! My slow internet took FOREVER to load it. *facepalm* ANYWAY.
Oh my goodness, Emma, what an amazing time for you! CONGRATULATIONS ON EVERYTHING! The graduation, the new camera… ❤ I'm so glad your graduation and speech went well, I LOVE your new style, you and your mom look super similar, AHH THAT ROSE PICTURE IS GORGEOUS, and the newborn photoshoot is adorable and beautiful. ❤ I loved looking through all your wonderful pictures, dear!

    1. Awww thanks so much Allison!! My computer will take forever to load long posts sometimes, so I’m SO glad you got to read it!!! Thanks!!! And congratulations to you too! I love your comments, and your blog. ❤ 😀
