It feels like…CHRISTMAS????

{But let’s just skip to New Years…}

{Just kidding}

…2017 is almost over. {I know I’m like the 300th blogger to say that!} But I seriously am having the hardest time processing this year. I am glad Christmas isn’t quite here, because the sooner it’s here–the sooner it’s gone.

Now, what I am here to post about, you ask? Well, I have decided to kill two birds with one stone, and do a Christmas post WITH a new year’s goals {I don’t fancy calling them resolutions…because I haven’t resolved on any of these yet} part. So let’s do this!

Look Who’s Back! …ME!

Hey, guys!

What’s up? “The sky.” {oh no, not that again!}

Merry Christmas!

“For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
    and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
 Of the increase of his government and of peace
    there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
    to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
    from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.”

~Isaiah 9:6-7

“No one is really neutral about whether Christmas is true. If the Son of God was really born in a manger, then we have lost the right to be in charge of our lives. Who can be objective about a claim that, if it is true, means you’ve lost control of your life? You can’t be.” ~Tim Keller, Hidden Christmas (page 72)

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Tree Drawing

This is a simple post!

A very simple drawing, too. I drew a Christmas tree for my very last art class ever. You probably know I stopped art classes. But this was my very last drawing. My art teacher’s words were: “It’s harder than it looks.”. And my friends, it actually was a LOT harder than it looks. One advantage is that most anyone could probably do it just by looking at it! But it was a lot of fun just the same. 🙂

So, Merry Christmas (soon!) from The Misty Mountain ;p  !

12 Christmas Questions

Everyone is posting Christmas stuff. Not too surprising…seeing as though Christmas is a little more than a week away! EEEEKKKKK. I am so going crazy right now. I didn’t get tagged to do this but I wanted to anyway. Who am I going to tag? If you’re reading this post right now YOU ARE TAGGED. That’s right. All of you are doing this next (if you want to) 🙂 .

So here goes nothing…

1. What is your favorite Christmas tradition?

Oh, without a doubt putting up the tree and each of us putting on our special ornaments. A close second is us siblings getting/making each other gifts every year.

2. Where do you spend Christmas?

It varies every single year. The common factor is it’s normally with extended family. This year we’re spending it with friends 🙂 . Something new I guess.

3. What is your favorite Christmas song?

Oh…that’s a good one. I have a lot of favorites. Some of them are “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” (Bing Crosby or Josh Groban), “Believe” (my favorite person who sings this is Jackie Evancho), “Silent Night” (no particular artist), and then another one is “Baby Please Come Home” (I’m thinking of Michael Buble’s version).

4. Do you decorate before or after Thanksgiving?

We literally start decorating right after Thanksgiving. That’s when the tree shows up 🙂 .

5. Tinsel or Garland?

Always garland, never tinsel here.

6. Who are you most excited to see this Christmas season?

Our friends.

Not these friends exactly, but they’re friends so it works, right? 😉

7. Do you own an ugly Christmas sweater?

Hmmm. I am not quite sure if I do or not. I would say no…but then, what defines an ‘ugly’ Christmas sweater?

8. What is one Christmas food you cannot live without?

That’s a rather strong way of putting it. But one that I love on Christmas and Thanksgiving both is mashed potatoes and gravy. One funsy is peppermint bark (so good!).  🙂

9. Peppermint or Gingerbread?

Peppermint. I’m a spicy girl 🙂 .

10. Have you ever tried a fruit cake?

No, but I wish I had. 😦

11. What is one thing you asked for this Christmas?

Oh, easy one! My DSLR camera (I already got it, too!).

12. If you could be any Christmas movie character, who would you be?

I think I would be Mary Bailey from “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

Now it’s your turn! Don’t forget to mention that I tagged you!

Merry Christmas soon!

Four Months Left

Today is September the first–so is anyone else interested in making homemade Christmas gifts? I am, obviously. 🙂 I am now going crazy with the realization that in just FOUR MONTHS–Christmas will hit us. Okay, fine! 3 1/2 ish months. I always make all my Christmas gifts…which means I hit pinterest with a vengeance (and create a secret board called ‘gifts for Christmas’.) and find something that my family will like love. I like love making all my gifts. And it saves money, too! Now what is the point of all this blabbering? Well, it was obviously (I say that too much) definitely because I wanted you to worry about gifts this year. I mean, why else would I mention it? 🙂

This photo is to make you wish we were in the prairie days…where they put apples and oranges in stockings. That was their gift. Why are we so demanding …ahem…American these days?

Now you are actually supposed to be wondering if this post has any point at all. Does it? AHA, my friends, AHA–remember what I said in my ‘about’ page? I said something to the effect of “this is my all-purpose” blog. So see…I can post anything my heart desires! I am a THE queen of randomness.  But anyway…here are some of my previous Christmas gifts.

Hand-drawn cards for Mimi & Papa.
A very colorful rose for Grandma Carol.
A circular doodle. It’s cute…and easy to draw. U can be creative.
Handmade paper flowers. I actually made a mini version of these and attached them to a barrette.

I hope this got you thinking about gift ideas. Y’know churned you up? 🙂
