INSTRUCTIONS

STEP ONE~ FIRST DETERMINE A DESIGN AND SKETCH IT LIGHTLY ON YOUR CANVAS WITH A PENCIL.

IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE ‘SHEEP’, I USED THIS MAGNET AS A STENCIL.

STEP TWO~ NEXT, BEGIN TRACING OVER YOUR PENCIL MARKS WITH THE GLUE GUN. WATCH THE CONSISTENCY OF THE HOT GLUE AND TRY TO BE CONSISTENT IN THE AMOUNT OF GLUE ON THE CANVAS.

GET RID OF THE ‘SPIDER STRING’S’ AS YOU GO!

STEP THREE~ NOW CHOOSE YOUR PAINT COLORS AND BEGIN PUTTING THEM ON IN THE ORDER YOU WANT THEM. THE DESIGN IS UP TO YOU. I MADE THE SHEEP PLAIN OLD WHITE.

STEP FOUR~ STRENGTHEN AND DEEPEN THE COATS OF PAINT AS YOU GO UNTIL SATISFIED WITH YOUR WORK. MAKE SURE THAT THE PAINT IS EVEN. ALSO MAKE SURE ALL THE HOT GLUE IS PAINTED OVER EVENLY. AND YOU’RE DONE!

Pinterest Inspired Crafts Class

Howdy howdy!

(That’s for my friends who live in Texas 🙂 )

Yesterday afternoon I was given the (scary) fun task of ‘babysitting’ my three younger siblings. Mom and my older sister were off to Nashville for H’s piano lesson. And dad was sick, so I was in charge. A few moments before they left- Mom asked me if I would do a ‘fall’ craft with the kids. I had been wanting to try out a few Pinterest style crafts and so…I did. And I am happy we did.

The Hand Trees…

…and Ellie with hers.

Sorry about the blurriness… for some reason my siblings didn’t enjoy standing still for long! 🙂

And this was the start of my tree…

The Fall Leaves Wreath

Then we went and gathered fall leaves, emphasis on color.

I only have a photo of Ellie’s, but you can follow the link up there and check out my pinterest board. Ellie’s is more unique than the one on pinterest, and I was proud of her design skills.

Have y’all done any fall-inspired crafts lately?

What is your #1 favorite thing about fall?

Do you use pinterest? (I’m a pinterest crazy person!)

What do YOU think of our crafts? Any ideas for another craft? 🙂

Birthday Crafts

Good afternoon!

For those of you who don’t know, I used to blog at a site I named ‘Crafty and Fun’. And as you may have guessed…that ship has sailed. But my love of crafting and creativity hasn’t. And so I am pleased to share what I made just recently for my dad’s birthday. A quick introduction though: One of the gifts I made stemmed off an idea I had for my upcoming etsy shop. The idea was (in my mind) grasping at straws. But it looked something like this:

IMG_1869.JPG
A ‘survivor’ mini model bed roll, already trying to roll up. So I snapped the pic. really fast.
IMG_1871.JPG
It literally, without any help… rolls up if there’s no pressure holding it down! It’s because of the tension on the strings.

Now, how does that relate to the gift I made dad? Well…it gave me the idea because of the twigs. Otherwise, it holds no relation to the gift for dad. But that’s how random my mind is. The slightest thing can trigger an idea (no matter how far out) in my brain. And that’s what happened here. So, I headed outside and brought in some twigs to make dad a coaster…

IMG_1888.JPG
Brown satin ribbon made good ‘binding’ for the coaster. I filled in the cracks with hot glue…and regretted it later– because the hot glue ends up so white it shows up way too much in pictures. I am now wishing I would of had some clear glue at my disposal. Or some wood putty. 😦

And then I got sidetracked and started snapping photos of my zinnia plant that just opened up…

I told you I tend to be rather random. But now for part two of the gift. I made a card, and I also made a beaded bookmark. Sadly, I didn’t have the best beads at my disposal for this project…but I made do.

And everything else all together.

Hope y’all liked this post, as random as it was. Stay tuned for some fall pictures and also for something about a survivors shelter. “What?” you say? Better keep an eye open to see what I’m talking about. Till then, adieu!

Do you ever hand make gifts for people?

Do you like zinnias?

What are YOUR thoughts on all this fall weather? (thumbs up over here!! 🙂 )
